It looks like EA is making virtual room for their highly anticipated September 2nd, 2014 release of ‘The Sims 4,’ their newest and biggest installment of ‘The Sims’ franchise yet. Since its retirement, ‘The Sims 2’ and ‘Ultimate Collection’ expansion pack are no longer available on the Origin website shoppers can only get their free copy via the I-LOVE-THE-SIMS promo code. Last night, EA announced at their Help Center that ‘The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection’ is now available to everyone for free download from Origin until July 31st, 2014 until 10AM PDT. Previously, EA had announced on July 16th that ‘The Sims 2’ would be “retired” and offered owners of the game the opportunity to upgrade their copy to the ‘Ultimate Collection’ for free at Origin. For players who own The Sims 2 as a digital game in the Origin client, you will now see a brand new version of your games: The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection.It is unknown at this time if/when this version will be available for all players. Origin members can enter code I-LOVE-THE-SIMS to begin their ‘The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection’ download free of charge. On July 22nd, 2014, EA will discontinue the current tech support for The Sims 2 and its expansions. Interested shoppers can log into their Origin account (new members can download and install Origin here) and select ‘Redeem Product Code’ from the ‘Game’ tab. ![]() ‘The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection’ download contains ‘The Sims 2’ game as well as every single expansion pack and stuff pack previously pack released for the game.
